Getting fit was never as easy as ace fitness expert Namita Jain made it, through her now-hugely-successful book ‘Jaldi Fit’!
The roaring success of this extremely popular title in the wellness space was celebrated with pomp on Wednesday afternoon at Taj Lands End — Hospitality Partner for the event — with the gorgeously fit Deepika Padukone as chief guest. The Title Sponsor for the event was Nutralite. ‘Jaldi Fit’, authored by Namita Jain, is published by Times Group Books, the publishing division of The Times of India Group in association with Nutralite — Healthier than butter.
Namita Jain, a highly-qualified wellness expert and clinical exercise specialist elaborated about ‘Jaldi Fit’ saying, “My book is not just a book but a complete exercise plan that can be followed by people of all age-groups, right in the comfort of their home. The basic thought behind this book was that today we lead an extremely hectic life and find it difficult to take time out to exercise. ‘Jaldi Fit’ — Your Complete Fitness Plan is designed such that it breaks through the constraint of working out in a gym and instead encompasses an economical and convenient workout regime. A demo DVD that accompanies the book elevates the entire experience through its elucidation.” Flush from the success of ‘Jaldi Fit’, which has sold over 20,000 copies pan-India in the last one year, Namita is now working on a new edition of the same with travel exercises, and will also be soon launching a new book called ‘Jaldifit Kids’.
Deepika, with an enviably Perfect 10 body, also spoke passionately about the need to stay fit. “Being a sportsperson, fitness has been an intrinsic part of my life since childhood. Of course, as an actress, the need for fitness has become all the more important; but irrespective of that, I think one owes it to oneself to maintain a healthy body and mind. And if as per Namita’s guidance, one can spare just 20 minutes every day and follow a holistic approach to fitness, staying away from fad diets and extreme workouts at gyms, fitness will soon become not a ‘task to complete’ but a ‘way of life’!” All in all, it was an enriching, informative evening spent in the company of two lovely women with beautiful bodies and minds!

Macmohan, the character actor, who shot to fame as the gun-toting Sambha in Ramesh Sippys classic Sholay (1975) passed away on 10th may 2010 in Andheri after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 71.
Macmohan, whose real name is Mohan Makhijani, is survived by his wife Mini, daughters Manjari and Vinati and son Vikrant. He had been suffering for a long time with a tumour in his right lung.
The famed character artiste had come to Mumbai to make it as a cricketer, but chanced upon theatre, thus moving on to Bollywood. With the silver screen, there was no looking back.
With a background in theatre, and filmy thespian training from the Filmalaya School of Acting, he became the staple for the dishum-dishum era of Hindi films. He was also the maternal uncle of actress Raveena Tandon.
Macmohan, who started his career with the film Haqeeqat in 1964, acted in over 190 films in a career spanning 46 years. Some of his films included Don, Sholay, Karz, Satte Pe Satta, Zanjeer, Rafoo Chakkar, Shaan and Khoon Pasina. His last film was Journey Bombay To Goa: Laughter Unlimited.
Majboor (1974) was the film closest to his heart, where he played a villain opposite Amitabh Bachchan. He had a complete a makeover, changed his look, voice and dialogue delivery.
He was shooting for Ashwini Dheers Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? in November when he was admitted to a suburban hospital in Andheri after his health took a turn for the worse.
Apart from playing the proverbial baddie, the actor had an impressive innings with regional languages. He had delivered dialogue in almost all Indian languages except Oriya. He had also done Russian and Spanish films.
Hema Malini, who had worked with him in Sholay, said, His demise is very sad. I worked with him in Sholay and have very fond memories.
He was a very nice and a respectful person. Hamesha bechare ko aise hi role milte the.
Macmohans greatest moment came in this 1975 blockbuster, when Amjad Khans character asked him, Arre o, Sambha, kitna inaam rakhe hain sarkar hum par? And he answered,Poore pachaas hazaar. Rest in peace, Macmohan.
Story: Dimple Kapadia’s little tea house is threatened to be swallowed by a bigger chain of coffee stores. But Lucky Cafe isn’t an ordinary cafe. It has been the communion point for all kinds of Mumbaikars who now rally around to save the heritage site from greedy multinationals. Leading the crusade is the crabby lawyer, Nana Patekar, who also couldn’t stay immune to the charms of the friendly Parsi neighbour.
Movie Reviews: Where have you been, Nana? And why don’t we see more of you, Dimple? These are the two questions that primarily stare you in the face as you sit through Tum Milo Toh Sahi, a sweet little ode to the spirit of the quintessential Mumbaikar who manages to connect, communicate and build lasting bonds in the milling crowds. The two veteran actors create such a warm picture of humaneness, warmth and togetherness, it leaves you asking for more. And the fact that they are total opposites — he’s Subbu, the reclusive, angry, Tamilian and she’s Delshad, the delightful, exuberant Parsi — makes the bonding crackle and shine some more.
Ever since their first meeting which begins with a fight in a mall, the duo take you by the scruff of your collar and make you sit up and watch them as they chart out a friendship graph that weaves through unchartered territory. Like, Nana playing the violin in his dead mother’s room, while Dimple watches or Dimple trying to convince him to open up his house, and himself too, to let in some fresh air. Eventually, Nana does play crusader and try and save her cafe from the land sharks, but it is the smaller nuances and the several unsaids between the adult couple which makes for compelling viewing.
The other actors too manage to create some firmly-etched cameos. There’s Suneil Shetty and Vidya Malvade, the discord-ridden couple who are on the verge of a split. And there are the mass communication students, Rehan Khan and Anjana Sukhani, who may or may not transform their fuchha-senior relationship into something more. Bringing them all together is Dimple’s corner house cafe, with its bun-muska, its caramel custard and its `We are the world-We are the children’ spirit.
Director Kabir Sadanand picks up a simple story and tells it well. And as he does, he touches upon the new trend of the common-man-as-crusader which seems to have taken India by storm currently. More importantly, he captures the `melting pot’ syndrome of our very own maximum city with a treacly tenor that does spread some sweetness in the harsh political reality. A bit of editing needed, however, for the film does tend to ramble a bit, specially in the song and dance sequences. Nevertheless, there’s enough to hold your attention….Watch it for the veterans’ winsome act, the spirit of Mumbai and for a tale told well.
