For a scene in ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol were seen running from the bulls. Shooting in Spain, the trio was dressed in traditional red and white costumes. And on this People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) had written to the makers (Zoya Akhtar) of upcoming film “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara” objecting to a bull fight scene which is to be shot in Spain. In the email, PETA pointed out that the “barbaric sport” of bullfighting should never be promoted and that such a scene is bound to enrage animal-friendly movie-goers.
The film, starring Hritik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, is being directed by Zoya Akhtar and is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The cast is shooting in the ancient city of Pamplona.
Kareena Kapoor is known for her snide remarks and unintentional comments. Recently, Kareena made a comment saying that she would never endorse an alcoholic product or a non vegetarian product. Her close competitors Deepika and Katrina are closely associated with ‘Kingfisher’ which has an alcoholic product. Now was this is an unintentional co-incidence or a smart dig at the competitors? Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have an enviable cast on board their next film
Bollywood is abuzz with talk of Excel Entertainment’s road movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that starts on June 7, in Spain. But, in this case, the rain in Spain or rather the buzz around this film is not restricted to the plain. With a handsome star cast that includes Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Spanish actress Ariadna Cabrol, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin, Zoya Akhtar’s film has already found itself a fan following. Secure in her own space, the Filmfare Award winning director says, “There is all kind of speculation going on about ZNMD, like it’s a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai, another coming-of-age film. But, none of this is true. DCH is a cult film. And, Reema Kagti — my co-writer, and I are not interested in copying anything. We’ve set out to make a fun film that pertains to the youth and connects to the maximum consciousness.” Producer Riteish Sidhwani knows that while the film will speak for itself eventually, the rush of adrenaline at this point is courtesy the terrific star cast. “We’ve managed a coup,” he smiles.
Zoya, agreeing with Riteish, adds, “This is a dream cast. I’m fortunate that Farhan and Riteish got these actors to agree. Between Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay, I’ve pretty much got every chick in the audience covered. Their individual fan base is enviable.” Hrithik is excited about Zoya’s film because both she and he come from a space where they understand each other really well. Having worked together on Luck By Chance, they are in tandem with each other’s sensibilities. Zoya, who knows her brother Farhan’s strengths as an actor, feels he suits his role in ZNMD to the ‘T’.
“And Abhay is going to be the surprise packet,” she says, “I think he is truly sensible to not ape what other actors are doing.” For Katrina, the fact that she is teaming up with Hrithik for the first time is very interesting. Says Zoya, “Katrina is the only one I didn’t know too well before we started the readings. But I must say she is very sweet and extremely professional. Also, one of the most successful girls currently. ” And, last but not the least in this pack of six players is Kalki, who is not the typical Bollywood heroine either. “But,” as Zoya puts it, “she comes with a different set of sensibilities and is an actress who can rise to any challenge.”
Salman Khan was here and so was Shah Rukh Khan but the twain did not meet! The occasion? Mushtaq Sheikh’s sister Najma’s wedding to Annu.
The reason the two warring actors didn’t come face to face was because Sallubhai had to leave early as he had a flight to catch and SRK was amongst the last to arrive at this star-studded affair. Bollywood was present in full strength as they came to be a part of the celebrations. Apart from Shah Rukh and Salman, the lovely Katrina Kaif made her presence felt here too. Rani Mukerji breezed in and breezed out. Looking every bit the couple in love were Timmy Narang and Eesha Koppikhar, who came holding hands.
Walking in solo were Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh, both men looking dapper in black suits. Dilip Kumar walked in with wife Saira Banu, and went to wish the newly weds on stage. Sushanto Roy was seen catching up with Mushtaq, while Sajid Khan, Chunky Panday and Jackie Shroff formed a trio, laughing and joking with each other. Sonali Bendre and hubby Goldie Behl, Raveena Tandon, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitly, Prachi Desai, Queenie and Farhad Taraporevala, Tusshar Kapoor, Sophie Choudry, Atul Kasbekar and Manish Malhotra were some of the others who turned up for the big bash. The telly industry too was present in full force with Manish Goswami, Mahii Vij, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Aamir Ali and Urvashi Dholakia in attendance.
Prakash Jha talks about Rajneeti, its muti-star cast, working with Ajay Devgan and directing stars like Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, in a candid chat with us only on Zoom.
Jha, whose earlier movies Gangajali and Apaharan were set in Bihar, denies Rajneeti is reflective of the state’s politics. The movie, a political drama, has been inspired from Mahabharata. The ace director also clears the air about Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor’s characters being based on Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. “The movie has no connection with any person living or dead, or any past incidents.”
Besides Ranbir and Katrina, the movie also stars Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Ajay Devgan. When asked whether he had trouble managing the stars, Jha reveals all the actors were committed and competitive.
In fact managing 7000 people in a crowd scene was a phenomenal task. “It involved over nine months work,” he says. A candid chat with Prakash Jha, is here only in this video.
For promoting his upcoming movie ‘Raajneeti’, Ranbir Kapoor travelled in a local trian in Mumbai, much like our young politician Rahul Gandhi had traveled a few months ago. Ranbir spoke to us about his film and explained why only he and Katrina were at the forefront of the promotions for the film. Watch the video to find out more about this promotion stunt and also see what Ranbir has to say about local trains!
Akshay Kumar plays a con man in Tees Maar Khan and director Farah Khan says his role is inspired by English folklore hero Robin Hood.
“In Tees Maar Khan, Akshay plays modern-day extra smart conman, who steals the money from the rich and gives it to the poor, someone like Robin Hood,” Farah told in a recent interview. Around 50 to 55 percent of the film is complete and we plan to finish shooting by September. Like always, in this film also you will see a mix of action, comedy and emotions.
This is Farah’s third film after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, but first one without Shah Rukh Khan who played main lead in both her previous movies.
The choreographer-turned-director is expected to release the film on Christmas. Apart from Akshay, Tees Maar Khan also stars Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna, Arya Babbar, Aman Verma and Ali Asgar.
With Tees Maar Khan, Akshay is gearing up for an image makeover – he will be seen sporting an Indian Muslim look. Renowned designer Aki Narula has worked on his costumes alongside an international team of make-up artists and hairdressers.
